Barnwood Farm Table: A Rustic Alternative for Your Kitchen

If you’re looking for a kitchen makeover and not sure where to begin, can we make a suggestion for you? Try adding a barnwood farm table as the perfect gathering spot for all your family and friends. You can’t go wrong with a little farmhouse charm.Farmhouse Table

Choose a Custom-Made Reclaimed Barnwood Farmhouse Table

Here are three reasons why you should choose barnwood furniture, especially a barnwood farmhouse table. It will be the perfect addition to your kitchen!

Durability: Since the wood was harvested a while ago, its independence and exposure give it a classic texture that’s guaranteed to be sturdy. It’s safe to say a barnwood farm table is as tough as a nail!

Custom-Made: A kitchen table is used on a daily basis and there are some specifications, one might need. Whether it is the size, shape, color, etc. Here at Old Barn Star, we offer reclaimed barnwood tables in any size you need from 4ft up to 16ft. Reclaimed Pine, reclaimed Oak, and reclaimed American Chestnut are three types of wood that are used to make the tables we offer. We are more than willing to work with you to fit your needs, in crafting the perfect barnwood farm table that you and your family will love.

Personality: A barnwood farm table offers a lot of personality that all will be sure to enjoy. This piece of furniture is a family heirloom, which can be passed down from generation to generation. However, you must remember, this farm table is more than just a piece of furniture. All your family’s memories are engraved in the wood. Dinner after dinner, you share special moments with all your loved ones.

Farm Table Sitting Options

We offer two different sitting options, which we feel complement a barnwood farm table very well.

Barnwood Chair:

The more traditional route to your kitchen table; you can choose from various woods and then personalize with barnwood stain or paint colors.

Barnwood Bench:

The bench alternative is a fun and casual addition for your farm table. Not only does the bench add a rustic feel, but it also adds more sitting space for your family and friends.

Hand-Painted Furniture Ideas

If you are struggling with painted furniture ideas, we have compiled a few of our favorite themes, which we think will complement any piece of barnwood furniture, no matter where you put it!

Holiday.
How would you like a holiday decoration that requires no mess or fuss? An Amish-made barnwood hutch with Santa painted on the top will be a festive addition to your family room during the holiday season. Don’t limit yourself to just Christmas. The same painted furniture idea can be applied to every holiday. For example, hearts for Valentine’s Day or fireworks for the Fourth of July.

Beach.
Do you have a “beach themed” room or live near a beach town? If the answer is yes, we think adding a hand-painted beach scene to a piece of barnwood furniture will help set the nautical mood. How do you feel about sea gulls or seashells? (Take another look at the image above for inspiration!)

Food & Drink.
If you have a barnwood table in your kitchen, try adding a food or drink related design. A fruit illustration is always a very appealing design for any kitchen space. Customizing a piece of furniture based on its main use in your kitchen or dining room is also a fine idea. For instance, a wine-inspired painting on that table or hutch that displays your wine collection could add an extra special touch.

Animal Print.
Bring out your wild side with a zebra- or leopard-painted barnwood chair, bench, or stool. Use it as a decorative piece for your office or any other room, as you see fit.

There are no specific guidelines when it comes to design ideas for hand-painted furniture. Think of where the barnwood furniture will be placed and then go from there. Get creative and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. They sky is the limit when it comes to what design you choose.

Holiday Design Ideas for Accenting Your Barnwood Table

Picture this; family and friends gathered around a barnwood table feasting on all the holiday favorites (don’t forget the figgy pudding). Doesn’t that sound like a picture perfect holiday scene? The question then becomes…

How do I enhance the natural beauty of my reclaimed barnwood table in a festive way?

We know you work hard, so let us help. We have some great ideas on how you can create the perfect accent to your custom-made barnwood dining table for the holidays. A big part of the holiday season centers around all the decorations, from your Christmas tree to your front yard and tabletop. To help enhance the look of reclaimed pine, oak or American chestnut we have complied a few of our favorite holiday design ideas from centerpieces to table runners.

Holiday Centerpieces for a Reclaimed Barnwood Table

1. Decorative pillars filled with fruit: Fill a pillar with fresh fruit such as cranberries or oranges. Add some rosemary or cinnamon for an extra festive flair and to help make your room smell amazing.Decorative Pillars

2. Fresh Flower Bouquet: Fresh flowers are always a crowd pleaser. Put together your own bouquet or visit your local florist for some festive ideas!

3. Miniature cedar trees in decorative pots: You can easily pick up miniature trees from your local farm or florist. Place them in a decorative pot and tie your favorite piece of festive ribbon around the base. Place one in the center of your barnwood table or scatter several throughout.Miniature cedar trees

4. Mason jar with a tea light inside: Mason jars make everything better! For a rustic country feel add a candle to the bottom of a mason jar. Keep on eye on the flame and replace when the wick gets too low. For an extra festive look; fill the Mason jar with water, add cranberries and fresh green herbs.

5. Buffalo plaid table runner: Have a crowded table and looking for the perfect holiday centerpiece that takes up a little less space? Try a table runner, specifically a buffalo plaid one. The rich red will greatly accent any barnwood table.Buffalo Plaid

How to Care for Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Here at Old Barn Star we pride ourselves in providing you with quality Amish-made reclaimed barn wood furniture. Our technique is classic, rustic, and most importantly reliable. Tips for Cleaning Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Here are three basic tips to clean and care for reclaimed wood tables and other furniture:

1. Use a damp cloth, not a heavy saturated cloth, to clean your reclaimed wood furniture to avoid water-related issues.

2. Stay away from silicone-based products and any cleaning product with an ammonia base. The chemicals in these products can irritate the barn wood.

3. Avoid direct sunlight and high heat areas of your home. These conditions can cause issues with warping and cracking in your furniture.

Proper Reclaimed Wood Furniture Care

Every piece of Old Barn Star reclaimed barn wood furniture has its own unique story. When proper reclaimed wood furniture care techniques are followed, the story of each product will be sure to stay in tact and continue to live through generations.

Consider a Custom-made Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table

There are many reasons why people buy coffee tables. Here are a few reasons why they buy custom-made, reclaimed wood coffee tables to enhance the look of their space:

1. Adds character. If you’re looking to create a one-of-a-kind piece that matches your current décor, we have barnwood stains and barnwood paint colors to customize the look of a coffee table. Applying a paint or stain to a reclaimed wood coffee table will not only give it more character, but it will help to preserve the life of the table.

2. Extra storage space. Some of our reclaimed wood coffee tables are crafted with shelves, which are ideal to hold decorative pieces or act as a convenient storage space for books, magazines, or other miscellaneous items.

3. Custom-made. When deciding on the perfect coffee table for a room, there are certain characteristics one is looking for. Some want a round coffee table. Some want one with a dark wood finish. While others want a table with shelves. At Old Barn Star we work with you to create a custom-made coffee table that suits your needs.

If you’re looking for a timeless piece that your friends and family will love, we suggest going with a rustic coffee table made from reclaimed barnwood. Picture you and a few close friends gathered together for a movie night; your new coffee table will be the perfect spot to place a hot bowl of popcorn within everyone’s reach.

Le Malt Went Custom with Rustic Barnwood Lounge Tables

“At Roomology™ Staging we aim to improve the look of any space, whether it’s your home or a commercial property. For this project we, at Roomology™ Staging, wanted to find unique rustic coffee tables that would not only counter balance the rich leather Chesterfield seating and high-gloss molding, but would stand up to spills, water marks, and the usual wear and tear expected in a restaurant/lounge.

Because the floor space was limited, we needed tables that were relatively small, but large enough to accommodate food and drinks for 2 guests. Our timelines were tight, so we initially scoured the Internet and visited many furniture stores for ‘off the shelf’ products. But, after weeks of unsuccessful searching, we realized we needed to go custom. That’s when we contacted Old Barn Star.

We first heard of Old Barn Star from good friends who recently purchased a new custom built dining table with benches; they were gorgeous! Old Barn Star was able to work closely with us on the design, providing us with many ideas and options for tabletops, wood species, and leg styles. Based on an idea from their website gallery, we settled on black painted metal legs which they were able to fabricate with the help of a local tradesman.

We had a large order of 25 tables and Old Barn Star was able to meet our timelines! The quality and finish of the tables are impeccable; they are heavy, solid wood, and beautiful. And to top it off, their customer services was outstanding.”—Nipa Alon, Owner of Roomology Staging (www.roomologystaging.com)
